Product Description

Dorothy Lamour was one of the original glam girls of the silver screen in the '30's & '40's, often playing the female lead in films set in exotic locations requiring skimpy tropical clothing (as a result she was known as "the sarong queen)," and in comedies with Bob Hope.  She began her career by winning beauty contests and as a big band singer before signing with Paramount and starring in her first movie, Ulah, the Jungle Princess in 1936.  Born Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton in New Orleans in 1914, she used her adoptive father's surname as her stage name.

This photo with a mirror-like backing was probably a studio promotion of some sort ~ it's an excellent copy of a professional black & white photo showing the star in a scintillating bejeweled evening gown with the legend "Dorothy Lamour" in very fine print on the left bottom and the number P2156 bottom right.

Condition & Details:  True vintage in good condition. The moveable frame tilts forward and backward, measures 3x5 &, silvertone in streamlined Art Deco style, intact & working. The photo of Dorothy is in excellent condition.  The frame works as intended but has minor discoloration & one edge of the frame is a bit higher than the other.  The reflective backside has age-related issues, including deterioration of the backing & crackling, worse on the upper edges and to the sides.  (See photos.)
